The Mysterious Origins of Chimichurri

Unlike most foods, no one agrees where the word for the Argentinean parsley sauce known as chimichurri came from. It may be from the Sicilian salmoriglio sauce used on seafood and vegetables, or coined by captured British soldiers after the failed invasion of Rio de la Plata in 1806 whom combined English, aboriginal and Spanish words for condiment. One story even has it named after a meat wholesaler named “Jimmy Curry”!

All we know is that chimichurri mixed-in with sweet potatoes, black beans, brown rice, and queso fresco in our Argentinean Black Beans & Rice Bowl, is pure magic…Don’t miss out on this dish or lots more this week.  Signature sauces. Meals in a flash.
