When Chef Max suggested a chai vinaigrette, we were a little skeptical. Chai is a type of tea, right? Nope! In this case, it’s a delicious blend of aromatic spices that make everything taste magical. Think cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, allspice and pepper mixed together. Sounds great, right?
Use it as the base of a lemon vinaigrette, and you’ve got a sauce that’s perfect on roasted vegetables, couscous or yes, even these crepes! (They’re fresh from the test kitchen. We’re eying them for our Memorial Day menu.)
Ingredients
5 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
4 Tabelspoons Minced Green Onions
1 Clove Garlic, Minced
1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons Dried Oregano
1/2 teaspoon Chai Spice Blend (see note below)
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
Putting It All Together
It doesn’t get any easier than this. Whiz everything together in a blender or food processor, or whisk it all by hand. Serve over anything that grabs your fancy.
That’s it. Enjoy!
Note: We get our Chai Spice Blend from the Spice House in Evanston. You can find it in stores, or make your own!
